Keeping you up to date

You may recall from our previous articles that the ATO is beginning to send correspondence directly to clients.

If you have a myGov account and have linked the ATO service to it then you will now receive most ATO correspondence directly to this account. When there are new messages in your myGov account you will receive either an email or SMS notification (depending on what option you chose when you set up your myGov account).

A couple of points to note:

  • If you take care of tax payments on behalf of your children, and they have a myGov account, then correspondence such as notices of assessments and quarterly PAYG Instalment notices will be sent directly to them. You may need to remind them to let you know when they receive anything J
  • As we will no longer be automatically receiving a copy of your correspondence, we will not know if there is a variance to the tax payable or refund estimates we provided to you. If there is a discrepancy contact our office so that we can ascertain why.

If you would prefer not to receive ATO correspondence via your myGov account, simply log on to your account and select “unlink”.
